Feeling Foggy? Take a Look at Your Diet First

Nutrition plays a large role in all functions of our body. Some you may readily see, such as obesity or poor skin. Other problems due to poor diet you may not be able to spot as easily. Brain fog, lack of mental clarity, dizziness and confusion can all result from not getting the proper nutrition.

Highly Processed Foods

Highly processed foods are filled with man-made products and chemicals which aren’t meant for a healthy body. Most people know that fast food restaurants rely on these types of processed foods as the main staple for their customers. Some others you might not be as familiar with but are very bad too are:

Artificial Ingredients – these are foods that include artificial sweeteners such as diet soda, or include unnecessary man-made dyes among other things.

Imitation Foods – these include all foods that have been created to imitate something pure or natural. Imitation foods may be cheaper in some cases but it’s to the detriment of your health. These foods include items such as imitations cheese slices or spreads, margarine, pancake syrup and crab meat. Also, flavorings like lemonade or strawberry which you would think would come from the actual fruits but no. They don’t.

Foods High in Bad Fats

Bad fats are saturated and trans fats.

Saturated fats are found in primarily in foods that are animal based. This includes not only meats, but food products that are made from animal products such as ice cream, cheese and butter.

Trans fats are man-made fats included in many products to act as a preservative and extend the shelf life. Some products include: doughnuts, cookies, crackers, frozen foods, potato chips and snack foods.

Bad fats usually go along with highly processed foods.

There are so many other adulterated ingredients that go into processed foods that we can hardly pronounce the names of them. This makes them not worthy to pass your lips. In doing so you are jeopardizing your health which in turn will affect your memory and mental clarity.

These may make food taste and look good but they are not meant for our bodies. They can cause problems we may not even realize until it’s too late to turn it around. If we consciously choose not to consume these products we will be in better physical and mental shape.

It can be difficult to avoid processed foods in the fast-paced world we live in. If you just remember to try to consume whole foods closest to their natural state you will be much better off. Choose to eat a chicken breast rather than chicken nuggets, or infuse your water with real lemons or other fruits rather than the powders.
It takes time and practice to put the right foods into your body but your body and mind will thank you.
